Academy Class Descriptions
PARENT & CHILD CLASS FROM WALKING INDEPENDENTLY-3YRS, PARENT AIDED
This is our first stage of development and is designed to encourage children to become physically active and to develop the fundamental movement skills they need.
This is a parent interactive class teaching children from walking independently up to 3yrs the basic fundamental gymnastics and sensory skills. The classes are structured with set educational themes for warming up as well as separate themes teaching a different aspect of gymnastics each week. The class comprises of 2 large interactive circuits where parents aid their child around different gymnastic activities with the guidance and help of JGA’s qualified team of coaches.
Children will also have the opportunity to participate in our PROgressive medals scheme and British Gymnastics Proficiency Award Programme which are offered once a term.
INDEPENDENT PRESCHOOL CLASSES AGES 3-4YRS
Our pre-school classes are designed to prepare gymnasts for our school age recreational programme.
Gymnasts will follow a weekly theme and always start with an educational warmup to develop basic motor skills – balance, strength, coordination, agility, spacial awareness, whilst having lots of fun. Gymnasts will then divide into groups and move onto the equipment, completing two apparatus circuits on 2 of the following pieces of equipment (subject to availability); Floor, Beam, Bars, Vault, Fast Track, Trampette, Catcher & Mini Track. At the end of each apparatus circuit the gymnasts will perform a final supported skill, based on the progressions they have been working towards during the lesson.
Children will also have the opportunity to participate in our PROgressive medals scheme and British Gymnastics Proficiency Award Programme which are offered once a term.
Parents & Guardians will be invited into the gymnasium at the end of each term to watch the gymnasts end of term display.
RECREATIONAL CLASSES
(4-5 YEARS, 5-6 YEARS, 7-8 YEARS, 9-10 YEARS, 11-12 YEARS)
Gymnasts will follow a weekly theme and will always start with a game & warmup. Gymnasts will then divide into their group based on ages & abilities and move onto the equipment, completing two apparatus circuits on 2 of the following pieces of equipment (subject to availability); Floor, Beam, Bars, Vault, Fast Track, Trampette, Catcher & Mini Track. At the end of each apparatus circuit the gymnasts will perform a final supported skill, based on the progressions they have been working towards during the lesson.

ADVANCED RECREATIONAL CLASS (BY INVITATION ONLY)
JGA’s advanced recreational classes are designed for gymnasts that need to train for longer than 45 minutes, train with gymnasts of a similar level and develop their gymnastics all within a 1.5-hour lesson.
The advanced recreational sessions are taught by JGA’s Master coaches which gives the opportunity for skills to be developed in a shorter timeframe, so that gymnasts see results in their hard work sooner.
Parents & Guardians will be invited into the gymnasium at the end of each term to watch the gymnasts end of term display.
TEEN CLASS, AGES 13-16YRS
Our teenage class programme is for gymnasts of 13-16 years of age.
The Teens will follow the same structure as the recreational programme, however at their own pace, and on the apparatus of their choice focusing on skill development.
Teen’s will not be required to perform an end of term display if they would prefer not to.
PRIVATE TUITION, ALL AGES
At JGA we provide a fantastic service of private tuition for children and adults.
Our coaches are all fully qualified, experienced and trained within this field to meet the individual needs of every client.
Our client list has included dance troops, professional footballers, belly dancers, dancers for the Royal Ballet School and many more.
MASTERS FLOOR & VAULT (BY INVITATION ONLY)
Our Masters programme are for those that are ready to compete at a Regional level for JGA which has been the top scoring club at the London GFA competitions for 4 years in a row.
Each successful gymnast placed into this programme will train X2 2 hour master classes per week to prepare them to compete at a regional competition each year as well our annual academy championships and possible inter-club competitions. The structure is designed by former international gymnasts, and delivered by our highly experienced competitive master’s team.
MINI MASTERS FLOOR & VAULT (BY INVITATION ONLY)
Our Mini-master’s programme is a progressive programme that has been designed for gymnasts to develop their gymnastics skill level and to compete at the London GFA grading competition at levels 1 & 2. Competing at these levels this will then prepare them for our master’s programme which they will eventually progress through to once they have competed at level 1 & 2.
Gymnasts will train X2 1 hour mini master classes per week.
DISPLAY TEAM (BY INVITATION ONLY)
JGA’s display team consists of both gymnasts and dancers coming together to learn and perform choreographed routines for the London Festivals, displays for schools, fetes and any other up and coming events throughout the year. The 1.5-hour lesson will include dancers learning basic gymnastics skills and cool tricks for the routines, and current gymnasts will be learning how to dance, along with learning new skills and tricks. With both gymnasts and dancers involved this will give children an opportunity to remain involved in gymnastics or dance for longer.
